What is task mining, and how is it different from process mining?
Process mining reconstructs a process from the event logs your systems already record. Task mining measures what happens on the desktop between those system events — the spreadsheet, the PDF, the three browser tabs, the copy-paste. Most cycle time lives in that gap, which is why process mining alone routinely under-reports the real cost of a process. Dataken does both, from one activity graph.
Is this a consulting engagement or a software product?
Both, deliberately, and that is the point. An assessment that ends in a slide deck does not change anything; a product deployed without measurement cannot prove it did. Dataken measures the work, quantifies the opportunity, implements the fix through OLi, and then measures the change with the same instrument that produced the baseline.
How do you obtain the data about how our employees work?
OLi is deployed to your endpoints and builds the activity graph from application and task context — anonymized at capture, held inside a per-tenant boundary, with model inference run privately rather than routed to an external provider. It is not screenshot surveillance, and the privacy architecture is designed to be reviewed by your security and compliance teams before deployment rather than after.
How long before we see findings?
First process findings typically land within the first two weeks, because repeated task patterns become statistically meaningful quickly. The commercial commitment is 10% more productive time within 30 days, measured against a baseline agreed at kickoff, or the engagement is not billed.
Where is Dataken located, and do you work outside Texas?
Dataken, Inc. is a Texas corporation headquartered in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex — our only office. Because OLi is desktop software deployed to your endpoints, engagements are delivered remotely across the United States. On-site sessions in the DFW corridor can usually be arranged within the same week.
We have already run Lean or Six Sigma. What is left to find?
Lean programs find what observers can see. They systematically miss the private workarounds — the personal spreadsheet, the saved search, the reference document on the second monitor — because those are invisible during observation and unreported in interviews. Those workarounds are usually the bulk of what the activity graph surfaces, and they are frequently load-bearing.
